Indications:
Effexor is approved to treat major depression and can be used in treating various anxiety conditions. Effexor affects chemicals in the brain that to stop them from becoming unbalanced and cause depression.
How to take:
Take Effexor with a full glass of water with food. Effexor should be taken at the same time each day. Swallow the capsule whole, don’t crush or chew it. If you find it difficult to swallow the capsule you may it and sprinkle the medicine into a small amount of applesauce. Sometimes it may take 4 weeks or more for your symptoms to improve. You should keep using the medicine as prescribed and inform your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after the treatment.
Precautions:
Consult with your healthcare provider if you are allergic to any components of this drug or if you experience one of these allergy symptoms: skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. If you have a history of kidney diseases, seizures or epilepsy, manic depression or history of drug abuse you should inform your health care provider for them to consider a different treatment or adjust the dosage for you. Please keep in mind that Effexor may increase suicidal thinking and behavior in patients under age 24.
