b>Indication:
Keflex should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria. Keflex is used in the treatment of conditions such as respiratory tract infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes; otitis media due to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Moraxella catarrhalis; skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and/or Streptococcus pyogenes; bone infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and/or Proteus mirabilis; genitourinary tract infections, including acute prostatitis, caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
How to take:
Keflex is administered orally. The usual adult dose is 250 mg every 6 hours. For more severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms, larger doses may be needed. In severe infections, the dosage may be doubled. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Cephalexin than is indicated at the label without consulting a doctor. Continue to take this antibiotic even if you feel well, do not stop taking without talking to the doctor. Stopping this medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.
Precautions:
Before therapy with Cephalexin is instituted, careful inquiry should be made to determine whether the patient has had previous hypersensitivity reactions to Cephalexin, Cephalosporins, Penicillins, or other drugs. This drug is known to be excreted in breastmilk therefore use only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult doctor before breastfeeding.
