Indications:
Mefenamic acid is used to treat mild to moderate pain such as menstrual pain or toothache. It works by stopping the production of a substance that causes pain, inflammation and fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take:
Mefenamic acid is taken as directed by the physician. It comes in a capsule form to be taken by mouth usually every 6 hours or as prescribed. It can be taken with or without food however taking it with food may lower bowel problems. For more detailed information please see label and please consult specialist. Do not take more Mefenamic acid than is indicated at the label without consulting a doctor.
Precautions:
Inform doctor of any allergies to mefenamic acid or any other drugs before taking mefenamic acid. Also inform the doctor of any medication taken especially prescription and non-prescription drugs, herbal and dietary supplements. Some medicines interfere with this drug hence making it less effective. Doctor should also be informed of the patients medical condition especially asthma, runny nose, nasal polyps and swelling in any part of the body. Mefenamic acid is used with caution in children below 6 years old, in elderly, and in pregnant and lactating women.
