Indications:
Plavix is used to prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke. It is also used in patients with certain heart of blood vessels disorders.
How to take:
Usually Plavix is taken with a full glass of water, with or without food. The recommended daily dose of Plavix is 75 mg once daily orally, but you should always follow your doctor’s directions and take Plavix exactly as prescribed.
Precautions:
Plavix keeps your blood from clotting to prevent unwanted blood clots, so it can also make it easier for you to bleed, even from a minor injury. Seek emergency medical aid if you can’t stop the bleeding. Always let the surgeon know that you are taking Plavix if you are going to have a surgery or dental work. Your doctor may tell you to stop taking Plavix 5 days prior to surgery. Avoid using Plavix if you are allergic to clopidogrel, or if you have any active bleeding. Warn your doctor about any of these conditions when you have Plavix prescribed for you: blood clotting disorder such hemophilia, a history of kidney disease or stroke.
